First draft analysis

I have received a lot of feedback on my first draft. I have been told that I need to make the storybook more prominant and make the idea of the book more apparent. I will search for more transitions in order to create a more magical effect.

Having watched the video, I can see that I want to make and create more of a cathartic sense towards the end of the video. Creating the fact that they are looking back on who they once were.

I also need to film a certain part in the middle of the video, where there is a black space. I will fill this with the girls receiving an invitation for the summer ball.

For the whole video, I want to create the sense that I am guiding the viewer through a story. I want to create a universe, where the story takes place. I have taken inspiration from Taylor Swifts video, where there is a part before the video begins, a monologue or a few shots. I want to create the idea of 'black magic' and bring the audience into the story before the music begins.

First draft

This my first draft for my coursework video.

Title/font ideas

Looking at Jessie J's title i like how it is bright, funky and bold. It screams pop, R&B. I would like to take aspects from this to put in our video. We plan on putting the directors names in the opening shot. This is why I want it to be bold and to grab the audiences attention.

I have used this type of funky and pop-like font, to create the font that I want. I have chosen to use a lot more casual and female font, something that relates back to my target audience and full female cast.

Editing screenshots

This shot from the chorus shows the crowd laughing at the girls as they enter.  We have tuned up the saturation and the colours. Making the shot more colourful and bright. 

This image shows when Cinderella finds the book. Before this shot we have the book appearing and a light/sparkle coming across the screen to re enforce the magical aspects of the video. 

The book is a very important symbol and the images mirror the shots used. The image is also bright an colourful. it is meant to represent complete happiness urging the characters to aspire. 

Snow white is the first verse in the song. the red jumper and the wooded area are taken from the classic story.The greenery in the background is more prominent once the filters are added. 

This opening shot reveals the directors in a bright golden title. This is taken by Jessie J's signature title. I love how it carries the connotations of the pop genre. The title is cast upon the white board.

Filming Party

So we had to organise and film a 'fake' party for our video. Using mirrors we created the effect of vast amounts of people. The colours are bright and relaxing, complementing the characters. These are some screenshots.

Book arrived in post today

This is the book we will be using for the video. It is the inspiration for them to become confident in themselves. We have used the idea of Cinderella because of the transformation they go through. Each character represents a princess/ fairytale character. 

Digipack digital draft

I'm Here is an example of what we want to achieve within our digipack. This is just a draft, and these are photos from google images. We however have altered them and photoshoped this new image.

So here we have all three artists standing on a large book, on the book is the name of the sing and the original artists. All three are doing something or have something loosely related to their characters theme. There are light stars or sparkles of some sort in the background, with a pale colour of some sort for the background.

This is our shooting schedule for the week between the 12th - 16th. This is strictly detailed and we will stick to it very closely.

Love this video, i think it shows and gives off a great image for young girls all over the country, Power to woman being a small message. Great uplifting advert.

This window is where Rapunzel will be filmed from as she looks down and narrates. 

These shots of the archway are were we will film both choruses, the three girls will walk through here and make their way around the courtyard as seen in the above photos.

Audience research Compilation Video

This video shows the answers we received from the questions on our questionnaire. This video shows us the audiences point of view and how they feel about many ideas and themes we want to show and bring forward. There answers will alter our video and our analysis.

I have carried out a primary research questionnaire. It asks simple questions about music videos. I just want to gain an idea of how the audience feel about our ideas and how they relate to music, in order to create a successful video.

I am thinking of having all three girls as the centre image, maybe sitting on a book or looking as if they are miniature in order to create a fun and light hearted feel. 

Practitioner/ inspiration

I will be using Paul Fieg as my inspiration for my coursework. Fieg uses leading female roles within his films in order to create comedy, in his case. He believes that woman can create just as strong roles as men. An important example of this is his upcoming films of Ghostbusters, which has a full female cast. I will also be using  a full female lead cast.

I have chosen these design schemes and colours because I want the video to be bright and the costumes they are wearing to be bright and summery. Short dresses and short jeans shows this and reveal the casual aspects of the video.
